At the All-Japan Weight early this week, Matsui Kancho answered many questions about the current state and future of Kyokushin at an interview. And here are some selected questions about the possibility of talking to Shinkyokushinkai. A previous request of conversion from Matsui Kancho was declined at the JFKO press conference of Shinkyokushinkai in May.

Matsui : I do not think these people signed because they understood the two rules. They signed because they wanted to get Karate into the Olympics.

Matsui: I would like to make an appeal. In the last 20 years I wanted to hold a discussion a few times. But I always hear people from that side telling me "Matsui-kun, it is better for you to talk to Kenji.". I always say "I can go anytime, anywhere, just let me know." but my offers are always declined.
A direct meeting has a big significance
Matsui: First, we should meet. If we do not, nothing is going to start. JKF and us have become friendly groups. I do not know if I can make out a solution. I should say what I want to say. And we have known each other since we were kids.

In response to the Matsuiha request of meeting to discuss Kyokushin affairs, today Shinkyokushinkai quickly dismissed any possibility of cooperation with an unrelated public statement issued by JFKO, an organisation which did not even exist when Oyama Sosai passed away and contains a lot of miscellaneous non-Kyokushin groups.
The addressees of this letter do not include "a single organization for practical skill in the Full Contact Karate world, that has a friendly partnership with the JKF",in order words Matsuiha.
A very rude letter indeed.
Submission of Request to WKF and JKF
We, as the Japan Fullcontact Karate Organization (JFKO), in relation to the application process for the additional events to be considered and proposed for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, sent an official request to the WKF (World Karate Federation), the IOC recognized International Federation for the Karate competition, and JKF (Japan Karatedo Federation), for the proposal of the Full Contact Kumite event, in addition to the Kumite event under the WKF rule. We have been presenting our requests to both federations, for the inclusion of Karate in the Olympics under 2 rules, Full Contact and Non Contact.
Such request, in the form of an official document, was submitted by our organization to both federations, as the point of contact for such intent, in relation to the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games starting the application process on May 11 (deadline: June 8), for the additional events to be considered and proposed for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Our organization will continue to provide at appropriate timings, objective facts, our ideas, and information of the current Karate world, in a proper, strong, and wide manner, to the relevant parties and appropriate application destinations.
We, as the organization that unifies the Full Contact Karate competition, are presenting our request to our counterpart, the JKF, the organization that unifies the Non Contact competition. In such situation, it appears that Mr. Shokei Matsui of the Kyokushinkaikan Matsui Group is making statements on several media sources, that can be seen as the equivalent of requesting for a meeting with our Chairman, Kenji Midori.
Our organization, understands this one sided act of naming our Chairman and requesting a meeting with him through the media, without any official approaches, as simple propaganda by Mr. Matsui and his organization for practical skill, and we have absolutely no intent to respond to a meeting with such intent and purposes. In addition, there is no record of the fact that someone related to our organization requested a meeting with him in the past, as is stated by him through the media.
As is widely known, Kyokushinkaikan (Kancho Shokei Matsui) held a press conference at a JKF facility on April 16, 2015, signed a memorandum for a friendly partnership with the JKF, and announced that they intend to participate in the Olympic Games under the Non Contact rule, instead of the Full Contact rule. Such idea runs completely counter to our idea to have Karate included in the Olympics under 2 rules, Full Contact and Non Contact. Although unfortunate, due to such differences in beliefs and values toward Full Contact Karate, we believe that there is currently no need to hold a meeting with Mr. Matsui.
We kindly request for everyone’s understanding, to the fact that the destination for our ideas and requests, is the WKF and JKF, and not a single organization for practical skill in the Full Contact Karate world, that has a friendly partnership with the JKF.
